Portuguese Subtitles
While Thoughts Become Things has traveled the world through international film festivals, some of its most meaningful journeys have been much closer to home. The decision to translate the film into Portuguese was not driven by festival requirements or overseas submissions it was driven by community.
Bermuda has a deep and longstanding Portuguese presence. Many of us grew up alongside Portuguese families, friends, classmates, and neighbours. Their language, culture, and traditions are woven into the everyday fabric of the island. For that reason, creating Portuguese subtitles felt essential not as a strategic move, but as an act of respect, inclusion, and connection.
The Portuguese subtitles were translated by Raquel, a friend of Stephan. Her familiarity with both the language and the Bermuda community helped ensure the translation felt natural, and true to the spirit of the film.
Thoughts Become Things is not only about reaching distant audiences. It is also about honoring the people and cultures that have always been part of the journey. Sometimes the most powerful translations are the ones that bring a story back home.
